On Monday 2 November 2026 we sketched at the Ship & Mitre on Dale Street. The pub lettering turns up in several sketchbooks. Others picked out a potted plant, the curve of a window or the figures around a table. At the end we laid the books out together for the throwdown.
The Ship & Mitre stands at 133 Dale Street, opposite the Queensway Tunnel entrance. The building dates from the 1930s. Its present name brings together two earlier names for the pub, the Flagship and the Mitre. Pub history.
