The Easter Bank Holiday brought more than just chocolate eggs to Liverpool – it brought a day of urban sketching camaraderie at the John Lewis Café! While the rain may have dampened some outdoor sketching plans, it certainly didn’t dampen the creative spirit of the Downtown Sketchers crew.
Taking Shelter in Style: Sketching the Cityscape from John Lewis
Nestled comfortably at the top of the iconic John Lewis department store, a haven for all things homeware, fashion, and of course, artistic inspiration, our group of urban sketchers transformed a corner of the café into a vibrant hub of artistic exploration.
Window to the City: A Unique Perspective
With the rain drumming a steady rhythm on the expansive windows, the cityscape outside became our muse. Sketchers turned their gaze outwards, capturing the wet streets and distant skyline through a variety of techniques and styles. Watercolour washes mimicked the rain-slicked scape, while pen and ink sketches provided a sharp contrast to the blurred motion of the city in motion.
