This Monday, our Downtown Sketchers group met at the Maritime Museum in the Albert Dock for some urban sketching. We assembled in the café of this historic venue, eager to kick off our sketching adventure. We kicked things off with a steaming cup of coffee to warm our creative spirits.
As we fueled up with caffeine, we split into different directions, each on a quest to find that perfect subject to immortalize on paper. Some of us opted for the comfort of the indoors, savoring the warmth while working on our masterpieces. Others, a bit more adventurous, ventured outside, seeking shelter beneath the protective eaves of the dockside buildings. There were even rumors that a lucky few caught a glimpse of the elusive sun, playing hide-and-seek with the clouds.
After an hour of sketching, we reconvened in the café for what we affectionately call a “throw-down.” It’s a time to share our works in progress, exchange tips, and appreciate the diverse styles within our group.
Speaking of surprises, Chris might have accidentally violated café rules with a delightful homemade biscuit treat that miraculously appeared. These delectable morsels were the perfect complement to our coffee and provided a delightful break during our creative endeavor.
Despite the intermittent rain and a chilly 12 degrees Celsius, it was a fantastic day of urban sketching. The weather couldn’t dampen our spirits or our enthusiasm for capturing the essence of this picturesque location.
