Happy Monday! Today’s sketching adventure took us to The North Western, a charming spot with a fascinating history. This beautiful Grade II listed building was originally the North Western Hotel, designed by the renowned Liverpool-born architect Alfred Waterhouse. It’s hard to believe that it served as a 330-room hotel for Liverpool Lime Street Station back in the day!
Now, the North Western has transformed into a Wetherspoons pub, and they have quite the deal – £1.50 for a bottomless cup of coffee. It’s almost too good to be true, and we all know how dangerous that can be for our caffeine-loving Downtown Sketchers!
On the sketching front, it was a good day. We missed Paul, but surprisingly held strong in his absence. And great to see Tracy and her mother. Jamie, Jane, Cleide, Ron, Wayne, and Nick, who made it just in time for some great photos, rounded out our group. Some of us opted to soak in the cozy vibes inside the pub, while others enjoyed the fair weather outside.
Surprisingly, no one tackled sketching Lime Street itself this time, but that’s alright because we had a truly enjoyable day filled with art, coffee, and camaraderie. Until next Monday, See you then – stay sketchy! 🎨☕
