Liverpool Monday Urban Sketching

Urban Sketching @ Ryde Liverpool

On the 2nd of October, the Downtown Urban Sketchers gathered at Ryde in Liverpool for some delightful urban sketching. A vibrant bicycle cafe nestled in the historic grounds of the Cains Brewery in the Baltic Triangle, a locale with a rich history. Since its establishment in 2016, Ryde has seamlessly blended a love for excellent coffee, delectable food, and a passion for bikes, becoming an integral part of both Liverpool’s cycling community and the local Cains community.

Ryde Liverpool Urban Sketching

Despite the drizzly morning, a group of nine enthusiasts convened at Ryde cafe, conveniently connected to The Royal Standard. Opting to stay in the cozy confines of Ryde, we embarked on a sketching adventure. Serendipitously, Paul ran into Mick, a singer who enthusiastically joined our urban sketching escapade for the first time. Adding to the creative mix, Chris contributed a delightful array of chocolatey biscuits (or biscuity chocolates), enhancing the sketching experience. Chris also showcased her artistic talent by capturing another singer in her sketches (see photos). The flavorful biscuits added the perfect finishing touch to a day filled with artistic expression.

Ryde provided an ideal backdrop for our sketches, aligning with our ethos as urban sketchers to transform the ordinary into extraordinary art. Post-sketching, we explored the stalls and cubicles at Red Brick, contemplating the possibility of renting wall space collectively. However, the spaces were predominantly booked until Christmas. Yet, in the coming year, there’s exciting news on the horizon—Downtown Sketchers might secure an outlet for original sketches and prints, potentially leading to a dedicated store on our website. Stay tuned for updates on this promising development! And why not get involved next week?
