On Monday 24 August 2026 we collected coffees from Rise and sketched around Exchange Flags behind Liverpool Town Hall. The square, passages, stone details and café tables offered a range of subjects, from broad watercolour views to close pencil studies.
Our sketchbooks bring together drawings, watercolour studies and details noticed on location. The gallery includes the work shared at the end of the morning.
About the place
The Nelson Monument at the centre of Exchange Flags dates from 1813. The Town Hall and surrounding commercial buildings frame the square, leaving plenty of architectural detail to explore in a sketchbook. Historic England: Nelson Monument.
