A weekly Monday urban sketch meet up with Downtown Sketchers in Liverpool
On Monday 14 July 2025, we met at Central Library on William Brown Street. Sketchers turned their attention to the interior, the geometry of the stairs and views over the rooftops. The sketchbooks came together outside.
On Monday 7 July 2025, we met at The Pumphouse by the docks. The brick chimney, boats, waterfront buildings and a colourful vehicle all appear in the sketchbooks laid out at the end of the morning.
On Thursday 3 July 2025, we took a day trip to Port Sunlight and visited the Lady Lever Art Gallery for the Jim Moir exhibition and sketched around the village. The throwdown includes studies of timber-framed houses, the gallery and the surrounding streets.
On Monday 30 June 2025, we met at The Bagelry on Nelson Street and worked around Chinatown. The Chinese arch appears from several angles alongside shopfronts, trees and views along the street.
On Monday 23 June 2025, we met at The Botanist above Chavasse Park. The sketchbooks move between figures at the tables, potted plants and views across the park. The working photographs show how those pages took shape.
On Monday 16 June 2025, we met in the Pavilion Café at Aldham Robarts Library and drew around the courtyard. Trees, benches and glimpses of the surrounding buildings gave everyone a different view from the same patch of shade.
On Monday 9 June 2025, we met at Exchange Station on Tithebarn Street. Outside, the façade and its arches appear in the drawings. Inside, sketchers picked out chairs, plants, figures and the station clock.
On Monday 2 June 2025, we sketched in the garden on Alexandra Drive. Poppies, garden walls and the houses beyond them fill the sketchbooks in our throwdown. The photograph of the Amorous Cat on Lark Lane records the gallery frontage ahead of our exhibition. The pin marks Alexandra Drive at street level.
On Monday 19 May 2025, we met at Kimos on Mount Pleasant and worked around Roscoe Gardens. The pages range from the café lettering and nearby streets to several studies of the little domed monument.
