A weekly Monday urban sketch meet up with Downtown Sketchers in Liverpool
On Monday 9 February 2026, we tried the Everyman Cinema in the Metquarter for our Monday meetup. The lounge’s sofas, flowers, lamps and film portraits became subjects for pencil, ink and watercolour sketches.
On Monday 2 February 2026, we met at Shenanigans on Tithebarn Street. The pub’s busy walls, hanging bicycles, piano and bar offered plenty to draw, alongside paintings of its narrow frontage.
On Monday 26 January 2026, we sketched at the Nordic Church on Park Lane. The vaulted interior, altar, bookshelves and building exterior appear in the drawings, alongside photographs of hands at work and the final sketchbook throwdown.
On Monday 19 January 2026, we met in the Holiday Inn on Lime Street, looking across to the station and surrounding buildings. The windows offered broad city views as well as close studies of arches, clocks and rooftops.
On Monday 12 January 2026, we sketched at The Brink on Parr Street. Cups, plants, people and the cafe’s roof structure filled the sketchbooks, while others painted the streets outside.
On Monday 5 January 2026, our first meetup of 2026 was at Pocket on Paradise Street. We drew plants, fellow sketchers, the cafe interior and nearby architecture, working in pencil, ink and watercolour.
On Monday 29 December 2025, we met at the Museum of Liverpool cafe for the final Monday of the year. Waterfront buildings, the Liver Birds, museum exhibits and fellow sketchers appear in the drawings and watercolours, gathered together for our throwdown.
On Monday 22 December 2025, we sketched at the Philharmonic Pub on Hope Street. The ornate interior, decorative figures, doorways and nearby buildings provided subjects for pencil, ink and watercolour.
On Monday 15 December 2025, we gathered at the Egg Cafe on Newington for our Christmas party and the launch of Downtown Sketchers 2025, our second annual book. Sketchbooks still came out: portraits, cafe interiors and small studies record the afternoon.
On Monday 8 December 2025, we met at Central Library and the Christmas Market on William Brown Street. Some drew the library’s dome, shelves and atrium; others recorded the market, fairground rides and winter city views.
